STRUCTURAL AND COMPONENT TEST LABORATORY
Area of our activity
The Laboratory realizes component and structural (including full-scale) tests for aircraft, automotive, machine-building industries.
What are we doing
We carry out static, fatigue and dynamic tests to collect experimental data (such as strains or displacements) being the reply of the tested object to the applied loads. In the case of fatigue tests we deliver information required to evaluate construction durability.
What can we do
The Laboratory can carry out static, quasistatic and dynamic tests of the complete mechanical constructions as well as their single components or parts of constructions.
In cooperation with another divisions of the Institute tests can be carried out in a complex way. It means the possibility of preparation of test programs, evaluation of the test results and giving proposals of the constructional solutions enlarging durability of the tested objects. Tested objects can be examined with non-destructive testing methods. Also the microscope fractography is at our disposal.
Major equipment
- INOVA system of hydraulic actuators and load cells controlled by MTS Aero-90 (24 channels, two separate, simultaneous tests) or EDYZ-6 (up to 16 channels). Force up to 500 kN, displacements up to 500 mm, frequency up to about 50 Hz,
- Measuring system based on PC computer plug-in card (200 kHz, 16 channel WORK MATE from Strawberry Tree),
- Strain gauge (up to 600000 µm/m) and data acquisition quasistatic UNILOG 2500 system from PEEKEL-Holland (actually 150 channels scanning, with the possibility of extending the system up to 1000 channels) computerized system for measurements and processing,
- Testing room equipped with especially designed floor (40 m x 10 m) with built-in rail for taking loads. Separate, noise reduced, pump station system with flow capability of about 1 cubic meter per minute at working pressure of 250 bar; loops of hydraulic installation around testing room,
- Two load frames - for static and fatigue tests of specimens length up to 2000 mm,
- Internal standards (for loads, displacements, strain gauges, voltages, etc.) traceable to Polish Bureau of Standards.
